Ready for the next step

After rejecting the yellow as too distracting, I decided to get rid of a few more cut one-inch scraps and pulled out the rest of the one x two and one x three as well for a bit more variety. I put the original black in each corner and am thinking of binding this in black.

The size is 71" x 91" . Today, what used to be "Boy's Day" is now "Children's Day" and I have offered this to one of my grandkids to replace the single-bed-sized baby quilts they are using.
I also found a very large piece of light white with mottled purple that I will piece for the backing.

Also ... though a man riding by on a fast horse would hardly notice ... I have use part of this holiday week for a lot of cleaning and sorting ... (and removed a shopping-bag-full of white hair from one large shedding dog).

  1. I love how it came out, as always, you picked the perfect fabrics and finish for the piece. I think a black binding will be the perfect finishing touch.

  2. I agree - I love how it came out - you always seem to know exactly what it needs to look terrific! And a black binding will be the perfect final touch - ;))

  3. I also agree with everything already commented...it has come out wonderful. At our rose garden where I volunteer, we use dog's hair in bags made of stockings, tie it the stems and it keeps the possums away from eating the roses.

  4. Lovely, the fabrics you chose are perfect. And if a man on a horse dared to ride through, fast or not, I think he would be out the door so fast his eyes would not see much at all. Same down here, I can have a huge tidy up, sort out, even discard some things, and Hugh asks " Did you do anything with all that stuff".Hugs from a NZ that is going faster than the horseman, into Autumn.

  5. Great result with all your borders. You have a good knack of pulling it all together.

  6. You made the right choice.
Good idea to clean and sort out while the weather is warm and DRY, soon enough we'll have the rainy season and its mould upon us.

  8. Oh it coming together so well - reminds me of stained glass. We had company for a week. Our son won a very prestigious award from Amazon and they flew him out to Seattle for a week of celebrating. He got to spend a lot of time with us - shuttling back and forth to Seattle - it was great fun - he is back in West Virginia now - and things are slowly getting back to normal - that has been our week, so no crafting or sewing - soon to come though- happy week ahead my friend.

  9. Ah yes, time for our dogs to blow coat. I had to put the large dog upstairs while I painted, so that I wouldn't have dog fur in the wet paint. I even sorted a block exchange at church, partly so that his dog fur wouldn't end up on all of the blocks. We used to vacuum our old Malamute. He thought it was fun. The top has finished nicely. I'm sure that grand will enjoy it.

  11. Beautiful quilt! Looks like you have spent a lot of time on this one. I do not miss the days of our old Akita blowing his coat. Although, our three cats do a pretty good job of producing just as much fur every summer!
