I practice writing kanji with a Picma Micron pen and have a really fun time playing with the different sizes of line width. The tiny widths make "scratchy" looking kanji and the thicker ones look more like they are painted with a bamboo brush. Fun times! :) Cassandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09319901329438691914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5175671672721833449.post-64915536166726913362013-07-04T06:01:27.553-07:002013-07-04T06:01:27.553-07:00Love that block! I always used the dashboard reader, so, I'm happy.Cheryl's Teapots2Quiltinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01005480747596617459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5175671672721833449.post-27863350537144119902013-07-04T02:49:39.567-07:002013-07-04T02:49:39.567-07:00What a lovely block. I was so interested to read that you can "choose" the characters for a name, so the same name could have different meanings when written in kanji characters, is that right? I've been listening to "The Reason I Jump" by Naoki Higashida on the radio this week and was interested to learn that in Japanese characters the word autism is made up of self-shut-illness which makes sense. Love language :-)Lis Harwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11700965811840448266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5175671672721833449.post-45646618288717740932013-07-02T09:33:42.919-07:002013-07-02T09:33:42.919-07:00Lovely lovely block. I haven't used it, so am not quite sure how that worked. But like you I have a list of blogs in the sidebar. Those aren't changing. So, I think we are safe - for now! Your difficult block is so soft and charming and I like the red centre.
Isn't it nice when one's husband takes an interest in one's needlework or quilting?
You have another difficulty ahead of you - appliquéing Ryden in 'samurai script'! Not a challenge I'd like.
For daily living I prefer the daily script style; so much easier to find in a dictionary or to copy. With other styles I often make a misinterpretation of the strokes or the stroke order.
The hydrangeas in front of our house are beginning to wilt. I guess they would rather have rain than humidity. Lucky you to have such stunning lilies.
Queeniepatchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13281330411053716603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5175671672721833449.post-47391371088176894252013-07-01T22:10:09.416-07:002013-07-01T22:10:09.416-07:00I love the block you chose to represent The Lover&...I love the block you chose to represent The Lover's Knot - with curved seams no less!
