Deadline met!

Yesterday I finished the quilting on the banner. I am not completely happy with it because the background quilting seems a bit distracting.

The weather is very gray so the colors do not show well in the picture either.

In real life, the bible verse shows up better. Since it was my addition to someone else's design, I didn't want the verse to stand out too strongly.

This is a shot of the lettering.

Not beautiful, but it can be read hanging at eye level. I came pretty close to taking it out and giving up.

Next up will be my book club block and maybe I will have a bit of time to get back to my followers blocks.

This month's calendar is pretty crammed with stuff and I have a whittling assignment that needs to be completed by the end of the month.

Some days I feel like that guy who jumped on his horse and rode off in all directions at once!

  2. I share your sentiment Julie - maybe it's just that time of year when we take on too many things. I like the way the verse turned out...just visible enough but not overpowering. blessings, marlene

  4. Oh, Julie, this is so nice! I love the quilting at the cross, rays of sunshine and the shadow embroiered verse is good, too. People will want to close in to read it and thereby never pass by the banner without a glance!
I see you are having a busy schedule this month, Hope you will have time to go to the quilt show in Yokohama next month, though.

  6. Your banner is stunning. Colors and pattern design are lovely. I stitch church banners and I know it is difficult because they often must be viewed from a distance. You have reached a good balance with this. Wishing you a little peaceful time this month.

  7. Two things made me smile today - the guy riding off in all directions - I know the feeling - and the beautiful wall hanging. It is stunning and the quilting only adds motion to it - like the center of the world is whirling with hands assisting - glorious. The colors and the words come together so nicely.

  8. I think it looks wonderful! It is hard not to second guess our work. Sometimes you just have to leave the ripper alone. I like the horse rider analogy. I know the feeling!

  11. Stunningly lovely, and with your hands, heartfelt in all the stitches. Are you like the girl who won the speech competition here in NZ many years ago ,her words were " Stop the World, I want to get off". Please take care in your so busy days. Fond greetings, Jean.

  13. HI Julie, we are so glad that you didn't give up, as we think the quilting is really gorgeous. You did a fabulous job, and the background quilting is not distracting at all. On the contrary, it focuses the eye on the hands of many colors, and really makes them "pop". Your work is superb, as always. Thanks for showing this lovely photo.

    Best wishes, and happy quilting,
    from Marina and Daryl

  14. The banner turned out nicely. I feel like that guy, heading in all directions at once, too. Too much to get done, not enough organization to get anything done. Oops! I'd better work on that one.
