A wish fulfilled

For many years I have been wishing for an oval hoop but had not seen one for sale in years. When daughter Marie asked me what I wanted for Christmas, the first thing that came to my mind was an oval hoop, never thinking she might find one. Today the postman rang the bell with a big box in his arms, the hoop had arrived. (actually that was not all there was in the box and there were TWO hoops!)
So, why did I want the oval hoop? With a round hoop I can get the same length of work space but it also puts that area farther away to the center of the hoop. Also I had to keep moving the hoop as I worked. With this I could fit the whole space I was working on into the hoop at once. I was worried about the harp strings because I used metalic thread and didn't want the hoop to break it by accident. Now hands and harp can be outlined in embroidery without moving the hoop or endangering the strings. I am SO HAPPY!
Thank you my Dear Marie!

  1. An oval hoop is such a good idea, why aren't they all oval? I'm on the lookout for one now!

  2. Oh, for Pete's Sake! I typed a comment (after google finally showed me your comment box) and then my comment disappeared. Bad google.

Anyway, I'm happy for you, too!!! And now I want one! But I don't dare ask for one until I get one of my quilt tops basted. We are rearranging rooms, so I just might get an empty room briefly, which would be handy. : D

Hoping this goes through this time...

  4. Hi Jude,
It's amazing! I acquired one equal for embroider and quilt because my tendonitis in my arm was bothering me. The oval hoop arrived before Christmas but his foot came today. It's very and very good. And take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year with good health and peace.

  6. I'm visiting for a change. Such pretty things on your blog! I love the paper machie nativity scene and the three dimensional ornaments! And the Psalm quilt is so striking with the way the fabrics in the crosses are placed! I've never had an oval quilting hoop but if it makes quilting easier then I may have to think about one.

  9. Now you are teasing. Do we have to wait for the quilt to be quilted to see the whole thing? How thoughtful of Marie to go to so much trouble knowing how much you enjoy your hobby.
